Ingredients
1 cup milk
2 tbs white sugar
2 tsp dry instant yeast
2 tbs butter softened
2 1/4 cup plain flour
1/2 tsp Salt
1 cup water
1.5 tbs baking soda (not baking powder)
2 tbs butter melted
Pretzel salt or sea salt or sesame seeds or any fillings you like
Method
Warm up milk and dissolve sugar and yeast in it. Leave it to activate for about 10 mins.
Put in butter, salt and half of the flour into the yeast mixture and combine.
Put in remaining flour to form a dough. Knead for about 3 mins until the dough is nice and smooth.
Put in oiled bowl to rise for about an hour or double in size
Meanwhile preheat your oven to 220 c
Bring water to near boil. Pour into a wide bowl and dissolve the soda.
Divide dough into about 12 pcs
Roll each pc into a long thin rope and make a pretzel shape. You may watch youtube on this part.
Dip each pc in baking soda water and put on lined baking tray. Sprinkle your salt or sesame seeds.
Bake around 8 to 10 mins or until golden brown.
After taken out from oven...quickly brush melted butter then let it cool.
For filling ...Roll the dough into thin rope...flatten and twirl the dough around the sausage or luncheon meat. Dip in soda water and sprinkle sesame seeds.
Bake and when out brush butter on it.
