Steamed Teochew Yam Cake
8" Tray of yam cake
2 tbsp oil
1 tbsp chopped shallot
1/2 tsp chopped garlic
4 tbsp dried prawns, washed
800g yam, shredded coarsely
100g rice flour
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp salt
1. Heat up oil, sauté chopped shallot and garlic until aromatic. Add in dried prawns and stir fry until well mixd. Dish up and set aside for later use
2. Put shredded yam into a mixing bowl. Add in (1) mixture and the remaining ingredients B and mix well
3. Grease a 8" round steaming tray with a little oil. Pour yam mixture Into the tray and press lightly
4. Steam at high heat for 45 minutes or until cooked. Remove and leave to cool. Cut into pieces and serve with chilli sauce
